Summary White Paper to Evaluate, Diagnose, Implement: Quality Assurance Program
Develop a Quality Assurance Program to include: a written Quality Management System, unique Quality Control Procedures and Exhibits.
The Challenge
Our client is a leading provider of infrastructure services for electric, gas, water and telecommunication industries in the Northeast United States. They design, build and maintain distribution networks for utilities and industrial customers.
Although anyone can have the need for a written Quality Management System, contractors who provide services for large organizations with many interconnected parts – like utilities – are very interested in our services.
Our Work
We were contacted and asked to develop a Company Specific Quality Management System (QMS), in response to a request they received from their utility customer. We prepared an outline and timeline for developing a unique QMS and Quality Control Procedures. Furthermore our client contracted with us to conduct self-assessment audits, address findings and corrective actions identified during audits, and represent them during the performance of audits by their utility customer. Designated Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) were identified and interviewed. Draft documents were reviewed and commented on by the functional area SME’s. The client also identified points of contact to make decisions and approve all documents related to this project in a timely manner.
Key Outcomes
Opportunities stemming from a written quality assurance program exist beyond the utility industry. Many companies continue to outsource the administration of quality, creating large market in the areas of Quality Program development, Auditing and Technical Writing. Companies that currently need outsourced quality services have emerged from different starting points. Niche specialists are excelling in processes such as quality, while offering consulting, and administrative services. 2nd Party Audits and Assessments, provided by a consultant, lend credibility to the completeness and accuracy of these services.
Client Satisfaction
When the project was complete, our client provided the following feedback:
“Working with Storti Consulting to develop a Quality Management System made the process easy. Their knowledge and experience was invaluable to us while integrating the plan into our day to day operation”
Summary of Deliverables
Our client was pleased with the overall Quality Assurance Program that was developed to ensure they were able to meet the requirements of the utility company. Specific deliverables that were produced within the scope of this project were:
